The Sail22 Melges 24 Chicago Tuning Regatta will be held August 6-8, 2010 hosted by Chicago Corinthian Yacht Club in Montrose Harbor. We have a great event planned, similar to our Sail22 M24 Worlds Tuning Regatta last October. NOTICE OF RACE
1.RULES.
1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.
1.2 The Equipment Rules of Sailing will apply.
2. ADVERTISING
The event is classified Category ‘C’.
3. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
3.1 This regatta is open to all boats of the Melges 24 class that meet with the obligations of the Class Rules and their National Authority, in the case that a National Authority exists.
3.2 Eligible boats may enter by emailing Sail22 at info@sail22.com, and paying the required fee by July 9, 2010
3.3 Late entries will be accepted until August 2, 2010 and are subject to a $50 late fee surcharge.
4. FEES
The Entry Fee will be $150. Late fee of $50 will be added after July 9, 2009
5. SCHEDULE
Friday August 6, 2010
Time TBA early afternoon – On the water starting practice and short course racing.
1900 – Coaching talk and debrief at CCYC.
Saturday August 7, 2009
1000 – Warning Signal First Race of the Day
Racing area will be on the waters of Lake Michigan off Montrose Harbor.
Successive races will follow.
1900 – Coaching talk and debrief with drinks at CCYC.
Sunday August 8, 2009
1000 – Warning Signal First Race of the Day
Successive races to follow.
6. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
The Sailing Instructions will be available at the event.
7. VENUE
7.1 The 2010 Sail22/Melges 24 Chicago Tuning Regatta hosted by Chicago Corinthian Yacht Club will be run out of Montrose.
7.2 Racing will take place on Lake Michigan of Montrose Harbor.
8. THE COURSES
The course to be sailed will be windward-leeward configuration with fleet racing. Offset marks and leeward gates shall be used.
9. PENALTY SYSTEM
Rules 44.1 and 44.2 are changed so that only one turn, including one tack and one jibe, is required.
10. SCORING
10.1 The Low Point System of Appendix ‘A’ will apply.
10.2 One race is required to be completed to constitute a series.
10.3 (a) When fewer than six races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores.
(b) When six races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.
11. SUPPORT BOATS
11.1 Support boats shall be identified as decided by the Organizers. Support boats must register at Check In.
11.2 The Coach and Support boats will be limited during racing and must stay off the race course between the boats racing and the next mark. Coach and Support boats may be asked to assist the Organizing Authority.
12. LAUNCHING AND BERTHING
12.1 Launching and berthing facilities will be made available at Chicago Corinthian Yacht Club. Please contact Sail22 for more information.
13. RADIO COMMUNICATION
13.1 A boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones.
13 Race information will be given on a VHF channel to be named at event.
14. GPS Tracking
14.1 All competitors may be required to carry a GPS unit and will be required to give it to the Organizing Authority at the end of each day to download information to be used for debriefs.
15 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
15.1 Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See Rule 4 Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during or after the regatta.
16 INSURANCE
The boat is required to hold adequate third-party insurance, and it is the owner or owner’s representative’s sole and inescapable responsibility to ensure that the insurance is in place and is adequate.
17 TELEVISION & PHOTOGRAPHERS’ RIGHTS
Competitors give absolute right and permission for video footage or photographs of themselves or their boat to be published in any media for press, editorial or advertising purposes.
